VI. I interviewed two individuals to see what their response would be to my (our) plan. Their responses are as follows.
Evelia Gonzalez interviewed on February 21, 2011: Gonzalez believes that it is morally wrong to allow anyone commit suicide. She says that she could not do that to a love one. “Seeing a family member in pain, would be heartbreaking for me, but it would be ten times worse to live knowing that I could have stopped him from ending his life” Gonzalez is against euthanasia. Oscar Alvarez interviewed on February 21, 2011: Alvarez says he is aware of the possible remorse one might feel after a relative is euthanized, but he is not against it. The reason due, is he believes that one should not suffer. “Many religious people believe that God would be offended or that they would commit a terrible sin, by supporting euthanasia, but I do not think Him (God) wants us to suffer.” Alvarez strongly believes that euthanasia can be a blessing for those in pain
VII. My (our) answer, based on our research, to their objections and concerns are
Feeling guilt after a loved one has being euthanized is completely understandable. However, such feelings should be eliminated, because an individual should have control over himself and he should be allowed to make his own decisions. If a person decides to end his suffering who are the people around him to oppose? Are they the ones in pain? They are certainly not. Religion is a huge obstacle to euthanasia; Alvarez made a very interesting point. God does not want to see us in pain. I agree with his theory.
